This year my dad would have turned 52. We celebrated his birthday at Red Canyon Lodge .... Dad loved it up there he loved to go fishing, ride our bikes, and just be together! Mom got his favorite, chocolate cake with white frosting, and we let the kids sing" Happy Birthday "and blow out Papas candles! It was so sad not to have him there with us, but it is so important to all of us to keep doing the things that dad loved so that we can always keep his memory alive. Every time we go to the lodge, there is a huge red tailed hawk that comes and sits in the top of one of the huge pine trees while we are eating, and this year watching him fly away reminded me of a saying that I love:" When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust him fully and let go. Only one of two things will happen, either he will catch you when you fall or he will give you wings to fly!" I love and miss you so much dad, Love Spike

Oh, I love that saying. I've never heard it before. It gave me goose bumps reading it. I love that picture of you and your Dad at Red Canyon Lodge. I think it's so neat that you all spend his day together somewhere he loved to be. I know he was with you in spirit. I love you and am always thinking of you.
Stef, I love this post, and I really like that saying, it is so true. I love all of your pictures, you look gorgeous as usual. I should be finding that picture of you and the cake and put it on, I think I owe you.
I think it is so awesome the way your family celebrates your Dad, I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose my Dad, but my husbands Dad passed away while he was on his mission 13 yrs ago. It makes me sad to think my kids will never know him. I just thinks it's so cool the way your family keeps his memory alive, and how great that your kids will always be remembered of him.
I know I have told you this before, but I really admire your family for the way that you have been so strong in losing your dad! I am sure that there are really hard days and moments, but I just really hope that I could be as strong as you guys are. Thanks for a good example.
I love that quote! Thanks for sharing. The best part of all of it, is that you will be together forever! We love you guys!
